    Let's chat over a coffee

    Hi, I'm Bec.

I'm a daughter of aging parents, just like you. And I know exactly how heavy this feels.

I remember the exact moment my reality shifted. I had just turned on the computer for work when my phone buzzed. It was Mum's neighbour calling to say the morning carer had arrived, but they couldn't get into the house. Mum had fallen during the night. She had been on the floor for hours, cold, scared and unable to move to open the door.

The sheer panic of that drive over—the guilt that I wasn't there, the helplessness—is something I will never forget. Later, sitting in a sterile hospital room, I just wanted someone—anyone—to hand me a roadmap and say, "Here is exactly what you need to do next."

But there was no roadmap. Just a maze of government websites, acronyms like SAS and RAD, and a whole lot of guilt. I felt like I was failing her, and failing myself.

"I learnt things the hard way. I made the panicked phone calls on my lunch break. I waded through the paperwork late at night. I cried in the car more times than I can count."

But along the way, I figured it out. I created checklists to keep myself sane. I wrote down the exact questions to ask facility managers so I wouldn't forget them in the moment. I figured out how to talk to Centrelink without losing my mind.

This website is everything I wish I had back then — aged care made simple, by someone who's actually been through it.

These guides, planners and resources aren't written by a corporation or a government agency. They are written by a daughter who has been in the trenches. They are the things I wish someone had handed me when I needed them most.

So, grab a coffee, take a deep breath and know that you don't have to do this alone. I'm here to support you.

    Much love,
    xBec
